Repose Psychology
Dr Clarence Bissessar, PsychD
Clinical Psychologist
I am clinical psychologist who specialises in the use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for adolescent anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I am fully accredited with the British Association for Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and am a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have a BSc (Hons) degree in psychology from the University of Hertfordshire and a doctorate in clinical psychology (PsychD) from the
University of Surrey. In addition, I have postgraduate certificates in ‘supervision for children and young people’s services’ from the University of Reading and ‘low intensity CBT interventions’ from the University of Exeter.
For more than 15 years I have used various therapeutic approaches when working with clients with a broad range of presenting difficulties. However, since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I have chosen to specialise in the use of CBT for adolescent anxiety disorders and OCD. Alongside private practice, I work in a specialist NHS service for children and young people with anxiety disorders and OCD. I also offer supervision to practitioners looking to use CBT with children and adolescents as part of the postgraduate top up training programme run by the University of Oxford. In my spare time I organise local events as a committee member of the Oxford and Reading Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) branch which seeks to disseminate the best scientific evidence on the understanding and management of child and adolescent mental health issues.
