Systemic Psychotherapist

I particularly enjoy working with teenagers who are facing challenges in their lives, whether that's issues related to their mood, anxiety, relationships or life events. I can see young people individually, but also with their parents and sometimes whole family units. My professional background is varied. I originally trained as a nurse (paediatric and mental health) and I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). I have a postgraduate diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy and I trained in systemic psychotherapy at the Tavistock, one of the leading centres for psychotherapy in the UK. I am registered with AFT (via the UKCP register) and a member of the RCN. I have also had additional training in dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), non-violent resistance (NVR), attachment based family therapy, and I am a systemic supervisor.

I have worked for NHS child and adolescent mental health services for over 20 years, I have also worked in specialist paediatric units and with social care. As well as seeing young people individually, I also offer family therapy clinics. In life there are many transitions that young people and parents respond differently to, where communication and relationships becomes harder.  I’m really interested in supporting families to come together to find solutions to life’s challenges, and family therapy is one way of achieving this.  When one person in a family is struggling it affects everyone in different ways. Talking together in therapy supports all family members  to find solutions to the issues and to move forwards.  This way families become more able to understand one another and support each other.
